Greenfield UX improvement for a web application
I was tasked to revamp an existing Deloitte web application toward a broad goal: improve the experience for auditors using the tool daily, and find a way to automate the 10,000 invoices they currently process and action by hand.

I started by clearly defining the goal and writing a 'How might we…' statement — something I do at the start of every design task to frame the problem. I emailed stakeholders a list of questions, reached out to my network to learn how audit works in general, and set up a Miro board for collaborative breakout sessions.
Since the existing review tool already did much of what it needed to, I leveraged a lot of its functionality. From there I moved into what I call 'idea freeforming' — digitising components from sketches and the workflows in my head.
The solution has three main areas: a pre-filter to narrow the 10,000 invoices down to the ones worth working on; a filterable list of invoices in the main area; and a tool area of 'micro-tools' on the right that perform bulk actions. The 'My Boxes' concept lets auditors gather invoices and tests into modular containers, then apply a micro-tool — like a bulk field update — across an entire box at once.
